TSEYCERAMICS
I, Ted Seymour, began my life in the arts as a professional ballet dancer and am still working as a choreographer and teacher. While on tour performing and forging a life in Chicago, I was introduced to the world of ceramics and a new passion was ignited. After retiring from the stage I was able to dive more deeply into the world of clay and glazes. I attribute so much of my experience in ballet to my style in ceramics. Weaving intricate patters into space, playing with gravity to make forms and taking risks in what’s possible with material are all things I see transfer from one form of creation to another. As a dancer there is always a time when the body has to stop the rigorous career, but the desire to make art never leaves us!
