SEVIL ACAR STUDIO
My creative process begins with a sketch or an idea that resonates deeply within me. I draw inspiration from the art of ancient civilizations, particularly Mesopotamia, aiming to capture their essence in my metalwork and silk paintings. As a metalsmith, I employ techniques like forming, sawing, hammering, soldering, and stone setting to shape metals such as silver, brass, and copper. My primary methods include cloisonné enamel and traditional lost-wax carving. Silk painting is a recent addition to my artistic exploration. I create scarves using traditional techniques, hand-drawing and painting designs on various silks inspired by myths and stories from ancient cultures. In my work, I blend oriental influences with contemporary design, striving to craft jewelry and fiber art pieces that are both timeless and rich in storytelling.
