Bonjerk makes Asian-spiced jerky inspired by East Asian dishes, using responsibly sourced meat. Each flavor is a tribute to childhood favorites—like Chinese BBQ buns from Sunday dim sum, the bright Sichuan flavors of mapo tofu, and Zhajiangmian, a beloved Beijing noodle dish.
Founded by Anica Wu, Bonjerk emerged from her passion for making bold jerky flavors using ingredients from her pantry. In 2017, Anica noticed a gap in the jerky market for vibrant, Asian flavors, which sparked her decision to launch her own brand. Determined to find a way to fully understand and learn about the meat industry before diving in, she spent the next seven years as a whole-animal butcher. This hands-on experience deepened her appreciation for sustainable, ethical practices in meat production and shaped her commitment to building a brand that reflects her values and aligns with the future of good meat.
In June 2024, Bonjerk officially launched into retail in the SF Bay Area.
