Chef Roderick (San Jose born, First Gen Filipino American) started doing food in 2017 after his mother passed, in hopes of recreating her food so he could experience her meals again. I, Selina, met Rod in 2020 and we acquired our food truck in 2021. I’m a SF native, First Gen Asian American whos family and father have been in the service industry their whole lives. Our goal is to showcase Filipino American food that inspires others to think outside the box of what Filipino food can be. We want to educate the masses that food can be *authentic* even when it’s not *traditional*. Barya is a journey where we can hopefully show others that being proud of your heritage and culture may take detours, but that its the journey and lessons that make it count. We are still a completely self funded independent owner operated small biz. We hope to be able to be a part of Renegade so we can have more people experience Filipino American food!
