ZARUHY SANGOCHIAN
Zaruhy Sangochian (Cancún Mx,1984) is a Mexican Armenian architect specializing in emotional interior design and architectural illustration.
Working directly with clients, architectural firms, and commercial brands. Sangochian’s work draws attention by understanding the true and unique essence of buildings and structures. Those cartoonish lines, peculiar details and watercolor splashes encompass Zaruhy’s style that recall her architectural childhood upbringing surrounded by Cancun’s wild tropical nature and the enthusiasm of finding everyone’s identity.
Sangochian crystallized her interest by earning a B.A. in Architecture from Universidad de Las Américas in Puebla México, further studies include architectural photography at Universidad de Belgrano in Buenos Aires Argentina in 2016 and interior design Surface Materials at UCLA in 2023.
Upon completing her studies, she began her professional career in Mexico City working on interior design projects and architectural photography for magazines. In this city, she worked on numerous interior design projects, illustration exhibitions and sold her drawings in local stores.
In 2022, Sangochian moved to Los Angeles to connect to her Latin-Armenian heritage. Producing art and weaving between both countries allows Sangochian to hone in on her creative dialogue with themes of belonging, multiculturalism and identity.
