VIVEAUX

  • Sculptor
  • San Francisco, CA

Victoria Vonderheyden, creator of Viveaux, is a sculptor and ceramicist based out of San Francisco, California. Her work embraces both sculptural and utilitarian forms, while using the human figure as a vessel to explore themes of femininity, empowerment, and transformation.

She designs and sculpts original forms in wax or clay, often creating copies to serve as a foundation for further transformation. Through added hand-sculpted details, intricate surface treatments, and glaze experimentation, each piece is layered with unique characteristics, ensuring that no two are ever truly alike.

Her figurative sculptures often incorporate a sense of realism, capturing the essence of the human form with careful attention to proportion and detail. However, they’re rarely just studies of the figure. Organic elements, intricate decorative motifs, and personal storytelling through composition weave through her work, creating pieces that exist somewhere between artifact, vessel, and ornament.

Her sculptures balance realism and abstraction, capturing a range between familiarity and otherworldliness – often leaving the function of each piece open to interpretation and inviting the viewer to assign their own meaning.
