KATIE MORRIS CERAMICS
My business is making art one piece at a time. I was trained as an artist at the Kansas City Art Institute and later at Alfred University in New York. I have been selling my ceramics for over 20 years in craft/art fairs, group art shows, solo shows, galleries, and directly from my website and instagram page. While I have made thousands of unique pieces–ranging from tiny refrigerator magnets to giant, ornate sculptures–it’s as if each one is somehow meant for a certain person, waiting to be united.
Clay is in my bones. It is my life-blood, nourishing my imagination and giving form to my
dreams. I started playing with clay as a teenager, and I’ve simply never stopped. Throughout this
time I’ve created both functional and sculptural ceramic art, ultimately melding the two
disciplines where my sculpture is a bit more ‘practical’ and my vessels are each works of art.
My functional ceramics—mugs, vases, bowls, platters, and the like—typically exhibit a high level
of adornment using many-colored underglazes and then detailed with sgraffito technique.
