FRIEDA STRACHAN STUDIO
Originally from a small fishing village in north east Scotland, I relocated to Los Angeles in October 2023, bringing my studio with me.
Growing up by the sea, and with farmland and wilderness has really shaped who I am as a person and an artist – looking for interesting shapes and textures in the landscape that can be translated into my work. Whether it be colour palettes, inspiration lines or even just the feeling my work conveys, there is always a hint of my background in there.
I work with wool for sustainability, heritage and the tactile nature of the medium. Its warmth, durability and adaptability – choosing chunky bright colours alongside more natural tones and shades. I want people to feel good around my work, and for it to convey comfort, belonging and “home” whether it is a piece of jewellery, a cushion or a piece of wall art.
