ARTE ARCANA
Arte Arcana is a tiny Italian Bottega (art shop) in New York founded by Aria Ferraro
where artwork is created as an ode to ancient art made with spiritual intention and deep meaning.
Influenced by the need to honor the old centenary tradition of Italian craftmanship,
each piece takes inspiration from nature, symbolism, mythology, folklore and with the desire to create a bridge between humans and the magic of life through art that is hung, used as adornment or carried.
All artwork is made and painted by hand, with tiny imperfections and bumps that consequently become a key component of its archaic beauty and make it special in a way that is meant to reenact the emotional experience of holding an ancient treasure full of mystery and significance.
Aria wants her art to be a reflection of the respect she feels for the beauty of simple non-pretentious ordinary objects that are used for rituals in her culture and beyond: simple items often carried by or hung in the homes of humble hard working people who sought hope and comfort in the hardship of life and to channel strength, belief, protection, luck or connection to the spirits of nature, a loved one, gods or the unknown.
