Austin Holiday Recap!

Mark the First-Ever Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Market in Austin as a success!! We had a blast seeing all the wonderful vendors, attendees, and friends in the Lone Star State. It all made for a cozy, festive, and fun fair. Happy trails, Austin, we’ll see you next year!

Between great tunes, a “Merjack” photo op, and super awesome knit yoga balls, it was hard not to have fun at the Austin RCF.

Woodsy, rustic, and ever-so-slightly weird wares were great finds at this fair.

We also loved the clean, simple and sometimes girly pieces we saw.

The best part? You can check out our entire line-up of wonderful handmade artists and keep your holidays handmade! You can also check out our entire reel of pics from the Austin fair here!

Craft Spotlight: The Victory Garden of Tomorrow

Do yourself a favor and check out artist Joe Wirtheim’s line of gorgeous, colorful, and inspiring (in the best, non-cheesy way) prints at The Victory Garden of Tomorrow. Seeking a new and meaningful project, Joe looked to propaganda posters of the past and found inspiration in their calls to action. From there, he created what he calls a “New American Propaganda” encouraging simple, green, and good living. The results? Some of the most beautiful and engaging prints we’ve seen. Check out Joe and The Victory Garden of Tomorrow at the RCF Holiday Markets in Austin, Chicago and San Francisco.

11/11/11

We’ve been excited about 11/11/11 for a while here at Renegade (okay, maybe just this post’s author has been excited, as it happens to be her birthday). At any rate, it’s pretty much the coolest date any of us will see in a very long time, so we thought what better date than to highlight one of our RCF vendors, Jamila Tazewell from 11:11 Enterprises. Jamila makes all kinds of clever, useful wallet-esque goods, and you can see her pieces up close and in-person at our Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco Holiday fairs! How exciting! Happy 11/11/11, everyone!

Jamila Starwater Tazewell was born and raised  in Key West Florida and went to college in dreamy Savannah Georgia (SCAD!) and then made her way to NYC where she was sure she’d find overnight success as an accessories design star! Reality quickly hit her upside the head as New York is known for that sort of thing. She started 11:11 enterprises when she realized that it was way more possible to make a business selling inexpensive and useful wallets than it was selling insane , labor intensive, glam, weird handbags made by hand and fueled by cups of 3 am espresso . It’s been 8 years since she first started selling her eclectic and practical wallets and she’s still enjoying figuring it out – the balance between art and commerce and the adventure of being an artist and an entrepreneur.

11:11 is a name that acts like a compass for the endeavor it represents.. 11:11 is a lucky time for sure, and Jamila says she’s been very lucky with my business. Lots of luck and hard-assed work!  Really, 11:11 the time and phenomenon is about aligning with your rhythm and creativity; living your destiny, and trusting that you are right where you’re supposed to be, in this moment. It’s really about getting in there and doing it every day as a daily practice, living in the creativity rather than in the neurosis.  11:11 is a constant reminder of that alignment that we all must have in order to find the flow.

Keep on keepin’ on, 11:11 Enterprises! And have the most magical 11/11/11, everyone!!

Spotlight: Debbie Carlos

This month the Spotlight Series presents: Debbie Carlos.

The Renegade Gang created an awesome, autumnal backdrop for Debbie’s work.

Amazing what a few maple tree branches, some gnarled logs, and Debbie’s beautiful prints can do!

We have dozens of prints in the shop, ready for you to take home.

Debbie Carlos’s photography explores the idea of nature both in its natural and imitated forms, and her prints, which come in various sizes, are certain to bring life to any room. To read more about Debbie and her work, click here.
